Energy Safari 2019 - report
Dodoma is currently one of the fastest-growing cities in Tanzania. With the relocation of over 4,000 civil servants over the past 4 years as part of the Tanzanian government’s decision to shift its capital to Dodoma, the Energy Safari 2019 focused on how to capitalize this development in light of the energy transition, as well as the roles and awareness of people (both urban and rural) in this transition.
The Energy Safari 2019 was fixated in researching and prototyping renewable energy solutions in five (5) energy cases namely: Alternative cooking energy in Chalinze-Dodoma; Dodoma as a poster Green City; Assessment of value chain in Productive Uses of Energy in Changombe, Dongo villages in Dodoma; Perception and awareness of renewable energy in Dodoma City; and Youth opportunities available in productive uses of energy at Chang’ombe and Dongo villages.
This report provides an insightful overview of the Energy Safari 2019 agenda. It brings to light the set-up, the cases, proposed solutions, theories and Safari journeys and tools used during the safari.
